Why if I had a Thornius Dragonfly I wouldn't sell it for all the money in the world!

Here's one I've tried catching a shot of.He does follow when I water the plants.I like its white stripe across wings.its also larger than the others in my yard.my red ones returned this year& I some green ones that hang in one area.When I'm fishing,they useually land on my bobber or my beer.



I'm still working on a closer shot.

Cute, I don't see them around here all that often....once in a while they'll zip by my head...but it's not an everyday occurence.

njoynit, that is the same dragonfly as the first picture in this thread. That is the MALE of the species. The first picture was of a FEMALE.

cool. i had a baby in my car tonight. i made sure i got it out so it wouldn't cook tomorrow!

Now that's a camouflaged dragonfly.

Took me a bit of time to find it too.. Is that a Mantis as well in there? Or Just a leaf?

Just a leaf...I probably should've said he is to the left of the pic...like I said- I'll keep trying!

This one is MUCH better...it only took me 3 days and I don't know HOW many shots! Thank God for digital cameras!!

I can never get enough photos of dragonflies. Sometimes they cooperate..sometimes they don't! lol Here's a shot I got at the lake one day. This little guy sat there forever like he was posing for me. Now why can't they all do that?

I caught this one doing bug patrol.A lil green machine doing duty on my kumquat.

Inspired by you all, I went out and tried to take a few shots of the dragonflies that haunt my garden. I was really hoping to see this gorgeous blue dragonfly but found the brown one instead. Here is my album , I just hate to shrink the pics, and I really should start cropping them down to the main focus. I just love the detail you get with a monstrously huge picture.

Thanks for the link Thornius! I'm going to have to bookmark it for future reference. The dragonfly I had hoped to see was a Twelve Spotted Skimmer. Such a pretty "bug". And, I'm guessing, that the one I got pics of is a Common Whitetail.

Sarah your photos are GORGEOUS girl. I'm like you..I hate shrinking photos..especially those in macro mode. Leave'em huge! lol

Dragonflies are too fun to shoot. I guess it's the whole thrill of "how long can ya be still for me". lol

I really like your album you got there! It's always fun to coordinate the color of the page with your dragonfly. Makes it much more dramatic and attractive. And, what a great pic!! That guy must've been posing for you, just begging to get his picture taken!!

I saw Swarms of Common Whitetails today in a small creek about 100 yards east of my house plus two beautiful American Goldfinches.

Kim, I just looked at the rest of your pics in that album, and I've got to say, those look awesome. I really like the pictures of the praying mantis. You could've warned me about the spider pics though. lol
