OMG!
Are you gonna get me started on Wal-Mart again?
I can't wait!
Here ya go, Cindy! Duh

So, now I need to talk with Sarah about fish and plant possibilities! I know this is not a huge tank, but it's bigger than what we have now!

That is very exciting Lynne. Not only that you got a bigger tank but also made a friend out of the manager! Wonderful.

Lisa bought a new fish tank for her fish with some new rocks and a cover all separately because the package one wasn't in stock. When we waited in line, we decided to go to the photo center and check out there. She ended getting the tank cover free because the lady scanned it wrong or something smile I want a free tank cover! It was the most expensive part of the setup too lol.

Lynne! I'm glad you ended up a happy camper after all, getting a nice tank.

they had been returns from another store!
Why would they put something back on the shelf to sell it again if it is defective? Duh

another huge store that will sit empty for years on end!
We have a big empty Wal-Mart here. I guess they have one in every town, because the next town from us also has an empty Wal-Mart. Ours has been empty for 11 years now. It makes me sick to think about the businesses in this small town I live in that went belly up when Wal-Mart came to town. Hardware stores, clothing stores, fabric store, grocery stores that had been family owned for generations...gone.

Oh, I really didn't need to get started on that, did I? shocked laugh

I have to go to Wal-Mart today... :p

I have a love-hate relationship with Wally World. I love the prices and what Mr. Walton founded it on, but I hate the rudeness of most employees and customers. :p idea

Have you guys ever read the book Nickle and Dimed? It tells a lot about WalMart. They are not employee friendly. There is a WalMart Superstore where I live but I don't shop there. I went one time and seriously asked a man and then a woman a question about what I wanted to buy and neither spoke English. They weren't speaking Spanish. I don't know what it was. And our county has implementeda 20% off prescription card that is available to anyone living in our county, legal or illegal. WalMart is the only pharmacy that won't participate.

I have heard of it, but honestly never read it. sca My mom works in the snack bar of a WM and hates it, but for her it has good rx benefits. I don't even listen to her complaign anymore, cause that's all she does: complaign. If she's not willing to do anything about it, I don't want to hear it. Like I said: I love the prices and I have to pinch every penny.

I don't mind our Super Walmart......sometimes I've had problems with rude employees, but I like the actual store. It's nice, and clean, and cheap and everyone speaks English.

It's a shame for the small business owners though.....but I just can't afford to pay a lot of the prices that the small stores charge. But then again being able to get everything all in one place is so handy.

I guess I have a love-hate relationship with Walmart in general, although like I said I do like our local Walmart. I mean you just can't beat the $3 clothing racks.......

And you know, the funny thing is a lot of the $3 clothing I get is really pretty nice stuff...not just plain t-shirts and tank tops...but sweaters and cute shirts....a few years ago I got about 4 denim skirts for $3 each...I love a good bargain! But I won't buy something just because it's cheap, I have to really like it and have it fit well.

Walking through the garden center at this time of year always brings a smile to my face!

loz and Becky - I agree - I do shop there, but love to hate it!

loz - 2 years ago I got 4 pairs of denim capris for $3 each for last summer - like you said - can't beat that!

And a $3 cuff bracelet that everyone thinks is sterling silver and loves! If you're a saavy shopper you can find all sorts of things.

But... in that shopping center, the dollar store went out, the Hallmark store went out, and now I heard that the supermarket has not renewed their lease - even though we don't have a grocery section in our WM.

And... the first summer WM was here, they had the most wonderful selection of flowers and all sorts of plants - last year they had a small selection of GARBAGE! :p

Today, when I had to run over to get some litter quickly for Seven since we brought her inside after the vet, they only had 2 lines open with at least 15 people in each - it was a nightmare!

So, it really is a love-hate relationship if one goes there at all!

Our Wal-Mart is cruddy. And half the stuff doesn't work when you get it home. And yes they do put defective products back on the shelf. Not to mention the lack of quality assurance in their food section. Ugh, never will I buy food there again. That one time cured me.

LOL, yes they do. Last year I bought a brand new computer there and when I got it all out of the packaging and set up , someone had already registered on it mad I went back to the store and got 30% off cuz I wasn't about to dismantle the whole thing!

I think that Walmart should support more products being made in the USA instead of everything being made in China. Although I know realistically that's how they keep their prices so low.

Luckily the area in which our superwalmart is in seems to be growing...new stores keep popping up. Like last year we got a Game Stop & Catos clothing store right in front of walmart....and we also got a Peebles Dept store a few years ago, and including walmart there are 3 grocery stores. I actually happen to like the grocery section at our walmart. I like the way they package their ground beef.

We have a nice new garden center that they just added onto a few years ago, but I hate the way they take care of the plants....it seems like in the summer they are always watering the plants in the heat of the day in full sun. And a lot of the plants on the shelves that they are trying to sell are usually half dead. frown

We shop at Walmart alot...just can't beat the prices. Until the other day the only problem I had with them was the loooooong lines they always have. On this day I really woke the managers from their naps laugh They had a bar height outdoor bistro set that we wanted. It was in the garden center,so I walked over to the cashier(who was NOT busy, just gossiping with the greeter and a friend)and told her we wanted to purchase that item. She looked at us and said "Um,well,I don't know anything about that". I told her to call someone who could help us. She replied "The guy that handles that is on his lunch break, but if you want to check all of the top shelves, you might find it". I told her we would look, but,I expected her to call someone to help us. She said she would call a stock boy. Wellllllll,tap,tap,tap,pace,pace,pace...10 minutes later NOONE had shown up. I went back over to the cashier and interupted her "important" conversation and told her that noone had shown up to help us and could she call someone again. She told me it wouldn't do any good and that we would have to wait on the garden section guy to get back from lunch. EXCUSE ME! I told her that we would just see about that and proceeded to go to the front cash registers and I grabbed the first customer service manager that I could find. There were ALOT of people that heard what I had to say about the rude, substandard service that I was receiving in their store. Surprisingly she was quite concerned about the quality of service we received and proceeded to escort us back to the garden center. Boy did she get that cashier and greeter hopping! When they couldn't find the set anywhere, she called out 2 other managers. Turns out that the floor model was the last one they had and they let us have it and gave us $20 off for our troubles. The managers themselves loaded the set up and took it to the van for us thumbup

I guess you could say we have a love/hate relationship with them too

I love the smaller wal-mart stores, I only go once a month because I am an hours drive away. If I drive east I am at the smaller walmart which I love but if I drive west I end up at the super walmart. it's just to big, I can't find what I want and it's just to busy and crowded.

I love the clearance racks also, I bought jeans for the two year old the other day at $4 a pair, shirts $2. I bought t-shirts for myself for $3. I know it hurts the smaller stores but we are a one income family and that one income isn't even a full time position. So cheaper is better and I'm sticking to it.

Channel 6 in Tulsa did a story on Wal-Mart a while back where they went to 6 different Wal-Marts in the Tulsa area and bought the same items.

They got 6 different prices. Wal-Mart bases their prices on location, if a KMart is close by the prices are lower, if they are the only store in the area the prices are higher.

I just hate to go to Wal-Mart.

My parents are finding the same exact thing in Florida - they now have about 4 WalMarts within an easy driving distance, and every one has a different price on the same item - that's just not right!!!

We went to K-Mart too until they closed all in the DFW area. Nearest one I know of is in Sweetwater Tx. over 100 miles west. I wont buy anything at Wal-Mart if I can get it anywhere else. I will pay more just to not go to Wal-Mart. Their wages stink as does their benefits or should I say lack of benefits. The insurance always say it is preexisting condition. I retired from Wal-Mart although I never worked in a store. Worked in the mail service pharmacy which should be closed for all reason the stores should be closed.

Um I hate to sound all happy go lucky but I don't really have any problems with our walmart. We had a small one that they tore down when they built the supercenter (which was badly needed on that end of town) and built a gas station that is cheaper than the others where the old parking lot was. The only problem I've had with our walmart is they aren't that busy at night and the hubby and I used to always do our shopping "third shift" and that's when they block all the isles to do stocking and waxing of the floors. They also go down to only 2 lanes open and lock the doors at that end so we have to go in at grocery, pay at pharmacy and go back down to grocery to leave.

The Wal-Marts up here aren't even open 24/7. I think the close at 11pm and open at 6am, except for the Christmas shopping season then they're 24/7. So they are always stocking during the day and blocking off isles, and the employees like to stand in the middle and chat and look so put out if the actually have to work of move out of the way. mad
But there are a few employees that actually work when they are at WORK. But they are too few and far between.
