This is one of my rare, rhyming poems...but I can't wrap my head around a name for it. So...anyone who reads it is free to throw out a name for it. It'll be interesting to see what comes up.
I can't pretend when I'm with you
To be someone I'm not.
Your knowing eyes would see right thru
Whatever disguise I brought.
I can be myself when you're around
And I feel beautiful inside.
I know that you won't bring me down
My heart has no need to hide.
There are times I've tried too hard
To give the love in my heart.
I would give it freely without regard
And they'd tear my soul apart.
I put my heart up on a shelf
Long before I left Wisconsin.
To sit & wait I force myself
Before taking it down once again.
I want so much to give it to you,
But I don't know if you would take it.
I am not afraid of what you'll do
I know you won't purposely break it.
What about you? How do you feel?
Are you a 'Doubting Thomas'?
I'm not sure if it's love, but I know it is real
That much I will promise.
Will you take my hand and walk with me?
There's room in my heart for one more.
It can be fast or slow as you want it to be...
After all, isn't that what forever is for?
