3:06pm...Just wanted to let you all know to PLEASE say an extra L-O-N-G prayer for Cindy. She is in a great deal of pain and the medication is not working. They are going to try something different. She is also very nauseated due to the pain meds. those that have had surgery know what an awful ordeal it is...but to be nauseated and for the medication not to work makes it almost unbarable. It breaks my heart to know she is in so much pain.  These next few days will be very uncomfortable for her...I wish I could take the pain & discomfort away...but I know that what I can do for her is to PRAY fervently!!!

9:35pm...update...not much difference. Cindy continues to be in an unbelievable amout of pain. She knew the surgery would be rough...but wasn't quite expecting it to be this painful. The Dr. did send a different pain medication...now if she can keep it down.  She is tucked in for the night hopefully will get some much need rest and the healing will begin. She said to tell everyone "hi" and she just can't sit up long enough to post. she will be good as new before we know it!

6:10am update....Hhmm...so much for the being tucked in for the night. Unfortunately...she was up all night. She just didn't expect this much pain. Hopefully it will simmer down some today...cross your fingers!

I've been away for quite awhile and could not wait to get back so I could get good gardening tips and always the best laughs from Cindy.. Now I hear she is unwell....Gosh I hope she gets better soon and it is not too serious. She is one very special person. I will say a few prayers for her tonite.

Gee...you guys are so sweet! Thank you. I can see I have some pretty special friends here. I'd be lying if I said I was feeling a lot better, so I'm not going to lie. I feel pretty rough. I had forgotten what this much pain felt like, and I hope that soon I will forget again! All these stupid tubes sticking out of my body, attached to bags of this and that I have to keep pinned to my clothes aren't much fun either. There is absolutely no way I could run with a -T Switch right now and not end up tangled up in plastic tubing!  Thank you all for your concern and your prayers. I love you. Cindy

I see that Cindy has not been on today. I haven't talked to her either (today). She has been through quite an ordeal. I am glad that everyone has kept her in your prayers and offering such support. And her sense of humor... THAT will never leave. No matter how bad she feels, she always has that. She can always make you feel better, no matter what the circumstance. I checked in on her yesterday evening and as usual, had a wonderful time with her. She is still in massive pain, but trying to get it under control with the meds... Hopefully today has been better. I'd be in the fetal position.. but something tells me that Cindy isn't as weak as I am. Well...I was pretty weak yesterday! A few days ago I was zonked out on the pain medication, and found myself out in the yard wandering around carrying the nozzle off the hose, pointing it at the plants like I was watering them!  What a cruel joke that thirsty Brugmansia must have thought I was playing on it...watering it with invisible water! Don't worry...Rachel arrived, took the nozzle away from me, led me back inside to the couch, then watered all my plants. Cindy

Oh, I did a bad thing awhile ago! I'm not supposed to lift ANYTHING heavier than an African Grey parrot. Rachel has been coming over everyday to do any chores that need done...taking care of Mommy pretty good! But, awhile ago Lola made a HUGE mess on the carpet with some cashews. I tried to get down to the floor to clean up the mess and knocked over a whole can of seeds off the coffee table. So...I went for the vacuum cleaner.  I couldn't even push it! I turned it around and pulled it to where the mess was, then tried to push it again, but realized it was impossible. I turned it off and pulled it back out of the way...and realized that all my tubes and little plastic bags they sewed into me were all turning red. I messed up. Cindy

I've been on the couch ever since the vacuum incident today. Tubes are clearing up. I go back to the surgeon tomorrow morning...so I guess he'll tell me SOMETHING! He has already said nothing over 5 pounds for at least 6 months. Guess he knows what he's talking about. But, you know me....... Cindy

Don't you go out there and try to do a lot of stuff in your garden either!!!! Find some stuff you can do to keep you busy but sedentary.....crossword puzzles, jigsaws, etc.....whatever it takes for you to get through 6 months and not be lifting stuff.

Okie-dokie...I went to the doctor today. You guys are right...I got grounded. :rolleyes: Came home feelin' kinda blue, walked into the house and the first thing I saw were all the "Get Well" cards taped to the door when I got inside. (Thank you Duckie, Vanessa and Shamrock!) It made me feel good! Cindy

I know you are a very talented artist.My oldest son is too.In his teen years ,when he was feeling angry or depressed.I would hand him his sketch pad.
It helped him a lot, to get his feelings out. Great thought...but I don't know if they make a canvas LARGE enough for Cindy to get her feeling out!

Thanks, Cindy Lou! I am hurting pretty bad still, but getting used to it. :rolleyes: They gave me pain pills to take, but all they do is zonk me on my butt and I still hurt, so I decided to stop taking them. I don't quite understand that concept. Are you just supposed to sleep when you take them?  I can't stand to sleep all the time. It's nice to hear from you! Hope you get a good report Monday! Cindy

YES...sleep is a GOOD thing. That is when your body HEALS the most...(says mother nurse Banessa) that is the exact concept, so don't stop taking them...taper off some but if you stop completely it will be more difficult to get your pain under control. I hope JV isn't going to be quite the problem child you are Cindy friend! :rolleyes:

Speaking of pain medication, my husband is on Oxycontin for his polymyositis. He takes his 40mg pills twice a day and has some 5 mg IR (instant release) in case he has pain in between. He has never taken the 5 mg so he has a lot of them. One day I had a pounding headache so he said "why don't you take a 5mg pain pill." I did, laid down on the couch and couldn't get up for 12 hours. I thought I had an inner ear problem. It was terrible. All the while my head continued to pound. It wasn't until the medicine wore off that I realized that I didn't have an inner ear infection but that I was drugged out of my mind. I still had the headache.

Man, I'm glad they didn't give me those! They are a much stronger version of what I have...percocets. YES...sleep is a GOOD thing. That is when your body HEALS the most... Yeah...I think you are right. I feel worse now than I did day before yesterday, and I think if I'd kept taking them and been a good girl, I would have been much better today. I took one a few minutes ago. At least they keep me from moving around too much...which I know I do if I don't take them. You are right, nurse Vanessa!

I think we need to charter a plane and get all these ailin' folks of ours to a convalescence home so those of us who are well can nurse them back to health! Great idea!
