Hi all
I need some advise please on pruning a Freesia Hanging Basket. I am in zone 8 (EUROPE) if that is any help. My Freesia has died off so it is like a bunch of twigs at the moment, but I have noticed it has started to get new leaves coming though. Am I too late to prune?
to answer your question with a quote from bill,
TheGardenHelper: its never too late to prune off deadwood
Princessazlea,
You wouldn't happen to have a picture of
this
would you???
Just outta curiousity!!!!
I've always thought Freesia's were bulbs???

Hello Weezie
Sorry I don't have a picture, but I will take one when it flowers again.
Please do!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes when a name is given to a plant,
it might not be that name, or in the plant
world, there's 300+ varieties of some.....
And that's hard in the dianosis....
If I posted a picture or two of a freesia,
would you take a look at them and let me know
if they are in the same catagory???
Weezie
(What time of year did it bloom???)
Hi Weezie
I only got the plant last year, but when I bought it, it was already flowered. It has started to grow new leaves. Yes post some pictures please and I will have a look.
Hi Weezie
Just looking through the archives. I have made a mistake its not a Freesia duh (I am thick)
what it really is, is a Fuschia. Sorry
I was very curious when you wanted to prune them?
I'm reasonable knowledgeable about plants,
but I am always amazed at the varieties of some
plants that come from around the world....
I am always willing to learn new things...
As far as the Fushia's are, they're a seasonal plant in my growing zone, often bought for the summer and is waning by the end....
But I did find out last year there a few kinds, one's like mine here and I guess a bush, one of our gardeners had them out on the West Coast.
Did the archives help you with the maintainence or pruning that you needed????
