Bailey's Irish Creme has always been
my TOP FAVORITE!!!!

I like it with ice (on the rocks....)

Sometimes a splash of milk or cream.

Also with DeKuyper Butter Shots Butterscotch Schnapps. ... equal parts....
Very nice change to it,
again, you put in amounts of your choice and test.

Hey Weezie,

Ask and ye shall receive! Here is a link to the history of the Tom and Jerry.

Tom and Jerry History

The recipe on this web site doesn't have powdered sugar, I don't think there was any in 1862! laugh

Enjoy!

Hey njoynit,

I found this recipe on the Web, they use Royal Crown in place of your Canadian Club.

Drink Recipe: Duck Fart

Ingredients:
1/2 oz Kahlúa
1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 oz Royal Crown (Canadian Club)

Mixing instructions:
layer ingredients in order into shot glass

Bet this looks great with the Kahlua at the bottom layered up to the Royal Crown on top.

Hey JC...Trader Joes and Beverages and More both have a Tom and Jerry mix now. Just add rum, brandy, heat and away you go. My friend bought some and it was tasty goodness. I'll have to get some for the upcoming holidays!
Posted By: weezie13 Re: COCKTAIL RECIPES??? - December 10th, 2003 at 08:50 PM
Njoynit and JC,
When doing your layering if one doesn't have
a steady hand or feel too confident with layering,
(you have to shoot the liquor in and on to the side of the shot glass as to not allow it to mix together as you're pouring...)
But if it's easier take the back of a spoon
and tip the spoon into the shot glass at say a
45 degree angle and gently pour on to the back
of the spoon and just to the side of the shot glass, so you achieve the layered look....

If worse comes to worse and you don't get it
the layered looked, they still take great
no matter what they look like!!

And by the way,
when I originally learned that drink,
Some many millenniums ago,
it had Grand Marnier` on top.....
And they lit it!!! mad

And it was called a B52!!!!

Gardengal and Weezie,

Gardengal, thanks for the heads up about Trader Joe's, I will pick some up. I love Tom and Jerry's but hate the time it takes to make them. Plus that darn batter separates by the next day.

Weezie, great spoon tip for layering! B52, I have had them, no wonder that recipe looked so familiar. laugh

Hot Cider Drinks.............

1 quart of Cider

Cloves
Cinnamon Sticks

(if for some reason you like it sweeter,
add sugar to taste) *I personally never do*

Other garnishes;
Slices of Orange, Apples, Lemons,
or Raisins
Set on warmer to keep warm.
You can strain the mixer if it's sat
a bit and items in the liquid break apart
in the warming process......

Also,

1 1/4 oz. Spiced Rum
6 oz. Apple Cider (Hot)
Instructions:
Rim glass with sugar and cinnamon.
Add hot cider and rum.

Enjoy!!

I don't remember the name of the drink but I have had one of those layered drinks but wasn't sure while I was drinking it whether or not to stir it or drink it layer by layer. What is the RIGHT way to drink a layer drink. If there is a right and wrong?

Ok I got a question.
I am not a big drinker but daughter had a white russian and I took a sip and thought I was going to fall out of the chair.
Question is WHAT IS IN THAT STUFF? wavey
Posted By: jc2weho Re: COCKTAIL RECIPES??? - December 15th, 2003 at 07:25 PM
WHITE RUSSIAN

Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Light Cream
- 1 oz Kahlua
Glassware: Old-Fashioned Glass

Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into an old-fashioned glass over ice cubes.
Posted By: weezie13 Re: COCKTAIL RECIPES??? - December 15th, 2003 at 08:00 PM
JC,
Are you a mixologist???

Peppermint,
Those things are pretty much ALL liquor,
depending how much milk/cream was put in..

If it was tasty to you, but would like it
to be less strong or weaker in liquor taste,
we used to have girls put them in tall shaker
glasses and add alot of milk, so it wasn't so much liquor tasting, still same amount of liq.
just more milk, more filling...

A Black Russian is no milk............

Nah, Weezie! I am not a mixologist, my occupation makes me do a whole lot of online reseach. I have a great search program called Copernic Agent. I type in what I am looking for and it does a very defined search. Not like those gazillion things that come up if you use Internet Explorer. If you are interested they have a freeware version:

Here, you had me going, I thought you
were a true professional there.
I'm way outta touch with that,

was wayyyyyyyyyyy shy of the repertoire
of what I used to know....

I should go back to studying that stuff again..
Not that I want to go back to that "den of wheneckwahties"(sp)??? (HOW do you spell that word anyways???)
But it's fun to remember if I just could!

How about Ramaki, my Hot Fav.

Ingredients:
Raw chicken livers
Waterchestnuts - cut in half
Bacon - cut in half across
Toothpicks

To Make:
Wrap chicken liver and waterchestnut in bacon, hold together with toothpick

Put on a pan and broil until bacon is crisp

If you absolutely hate chickien livers try:
Pineapple
Prunes (Yes, they taste great!)
Any canned fruit will also do

Some put a dash of Worcestershire Sauce on them before broiling

My husband's favorite! muggs

Brain hemorrage:

1 oz peach schnapps
1 tsp. Bailey's irish cream
1/2 tsp. grenadine

Pour the peach schnapps and then slowly pour the Irish creme without mixing. The creme will clump together and settle at the bottom of the schnapps. Pour the grenadine over the creme to complete the drink.

Hey Barley,
Don't forget to explain that drink
and it's name to those who may Duh
not know "why" it's called that name....
Weezie
Posted By: jc2weho Re: COCKTAIL RECIPES??? - December 17th, 2003 at 05:15 AM
That Brain Hemorrage made me remember one of my Favs, a Cum Shot.

Yukon Jack
Baileys

Put Yukon Jack into a shot glass, gently pour in the Baileys until it looks like "you know what" in the bottom of the glass shocked

In place of the Yukon you can use Butterscotch Schnapps

Oh my good gravy,
can't believe you said that!!!
shk shk shk shk
I need the jaw dropper graemlin for that one!!!

That's too funny!!!

That's the same concept of the one Barley
posted, when you pour in the Bailey's it
swirls around looking like a brain in a test tube beaker or something, and the dash of grenadine
makes it look bloody!!!!

I know, some of the names they come up with
now adays!!!
I sent a list of dirty mix drinks to the girls.
Do you have them all???

Wow, I remember having a "brain hemorage" a long time ago at d.c. space, a music club I used to hang out at. It was so gross, the way the whole "brain" came crashing into my mouth- like an OYSTER!!!!!!! But after I drank it, hey, what do you know? I didn't seem to be too traumatized.

They used to make the best Irish Coffees at d.c. space. They were made with Jameson's Irish whiskey, Kahlua, coffee and cream. Mmmmm!

Does anyone know how to make a Wassail bowl? I had a great one at a Colonial restaurant in Leesburg, once. It seemed to be made of hot cider, rum, oranges, cinnamon and cloves. It was a very popular restaurant, and we had to wait out in a line for some time before we were seated, but once inside the front door, the hostess handed the grownups a cup of Wassail from a huge kettle hanging over a fire in the fireplace, and it took the chill off real fast, I'll tell you.

All these drinks look yummy, especaily the "Brain Hemmorage", one of my favorite hot drinks is a "Blueberry Tea"

1 cup hot tea
Grand Marnier
Ameretto

I like a cherry in mine, some people like to make it with Earl Grey tea but I prefer just plain tea

Posted By: gardengal Re: COCKTAIL RECIPES??? - December 18th, 2003 at 12:05 AM
My grandma always made a big bowl of wassail when I was a kid. I don't think it had any rum in it since she let us kids drink it up. It was such a tasty treat with dessert, and she made the best cookies and pies. I miss her so much, especially this time of year. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. kissies

On a different note, Full Sail Brewing Co. has a seasonal beer called WassAle that is also tasty. They also have one called Wreck the Halls. Both are good. Hubby and I really enjoyed them when we were in Portland last month.

Jillie or JC, I'll take a tall gingerbread latte if you're going to Starbucks before you have your Ramaki Shooters!

You guys have good taste, bailey's is probably my favorite alcoholic drink. Yum! And I started with Amaretto, also quite good.

A good drink for getting smashed quickly is the Kamikazi
1/3 each of:
Lime juice
Triple Sec
Vodka

You can make all sorts of flavored Kamikazis by swapping out the lime juice with something else. For example, grenadine makes for a nice cherry Kamikazi. The grenadine makes it a bit too sweet though so it's best served super cold and drank immediately.
