this plant was so enjoyed by the butterflies.

it's petals reminded me of another plant, but i can't think of which one it was. none of the blooms were facing up, so i couldn't see what they looked like inside, and i couldn't get a good pic of them. if i get back down there while there are still blooms, i'll try again.

I'd say Malvaviscus penduliflorus, a pendulous form of "Turk's Cap Hibiscus".
Okay, that's the same one.. as the Mystery post #19......

no, not the same as mystery 19, but i do think zuzu is right in that it is a turks cap!
maybe it's a sleeping hibiscus (i saw the name while I was searching through the seed site)

And I still think the other one (#19) is Malvaviscus arboreus,
while this one is Malvaviscus penduliflorus.

kissies thank YOU for identifying them. and you are right about this one too! very good eye. if i hadn't been there, i'd have had a hard time telling the difference!!
