Your tall green plant could be Hibiscus syriacus,
does "Rose of Sharon" ring a bell?
And I believe the second one is Perilla .

yes, i think the purple plant is definitely the Perilla thanx so much!!

but i don't think the green one is Hibiscus syriacus. i looked at the pictures of the leaves and they seem slightly different. the Hibiscus syriacus have more rounded fatter tips on the leaves.

where the edges of the leaves on the green plant is more jagged/sharp.

i think that tall green plant is actually a tree of some sort. i was looking around the yard and i noticed this one giant tree has exactly the same leaves as that green plant. anyone know what type of tree it might be?

It could be a mulberry tree. They grow like weeds.

Those buds that you posted look a lot like the Hibiscus family. Maybe it is a Hardy Hibiscus?
