It's called mosaic plant - they are really cool!
I saw them at the ponding store that I wrote about up in the water forum.
what do they look like under water? i would be interested in putting one in my tropical fish tank. i am putting together a 45g tank and i want a lot of floating plants and top cover for the specific fish that's going in the tank
I don't know what they look like underwater, as I've not grown them.
Here is a link to the best pictures that I just found on google:
mosaic plant
Hi Lynne..
TQ for da name n da link too..i have a lot of it but didnt know its name!! ..n Karrie TQ for bringing it up..
By da way..Sorathien..it grows on da water not in it...at least mine's like that ...but i think its da same plant ...mine spills over da pot i grow it in..
its roots are planted in the mud at the bottom of the pond, then its leaves float on the water. its not a floating plant. my question was, what does the part of it between the substrait and the top of the water look like, because that would be the part you would see in an aquarium.
Woops sorathien...now how come i called u Karrie!!?? Yep...true.. da roots have to b in soil... i too wonder if they r just like lotuses o waterlilies.. if da stems can grow very long to keep leaves n flowers above da water even in rather deep ponds...but this one..well based on mine that is... tho i have a pond n some waterlilies n lotuses..this one is just in a pot...with no drainage hole...but i think da stems can grow long also..s mine spill over da pot n da stems r rather long..how long can they go...
