I would have liked to see this monstrosity a week ago (would have undoubtedly made for a better picture, too!)
[Linked Image]
While the leaves are sort of ruffled around the edges (unlike a Calla lily), the blossom resembles a Calla. (The edge of the blossom, with the green underside, is curling in on itself as it dies back.) It stands about 2-3 feet tall, & from its wide throat, there protrudes a tall black spike.

This didn't have an identifying marker with it. Does anyone know what it is?

WOW! Good link, Weezie! thumbup I think I'm getting to be partial to lillies! There are so many kinds, & some are so unique looking! I have 8 different types in my Lilly bed, but I only know what 2 of them are called. I'll have to take pics as they bloom & post them here, so I can get them marked.

Bonnie (ServantsHeart) sent me a Crown Imperial bulb last fall & it didn't come up this year. [Linked Image] I should dig it up to see what might have happened to it. (We don't have those digging, bulb-eating critters here.)

I had one of those Dranuculus's too,
but mine didn't do so well...
It was warm early in the winter,
then it started to sprout,
then it got really cold and really wet
for quite sometime, and it didn't do much
where I had it..
I moved it but haven't seen anything there yet either..

*they are a lil'stinky though....
They say like a dead, rotting, well, you get the point...
and that is how they attrack the type of animal, "flies" to it to pollenate it....

I was willing to risk the smell to see that beautiful flower, but not sure I will this year.. eek
