The leaves are pretty .. they got the wholes from the heavy rain .. But healthy as heck! And under a pine tree too where the soil is so acidic nutz

Rita,

That looks to me to be what we call polk salad, some people call it poke weed. But I have it all around and some members of my family eat it. I dont like it. But just so you know, if it is polk salad (and I REALLY REALLY think it is) it is poisonous unless it is cooked REALLY well. I have seen in your posts that you have kids so I thought you might want to know.

If it is polk salad where the flowers are will soon be really pretty bright reddish purple berries, they might tempt your kids because they are so pretty..but they are poison.

If it does turn out to be Pokeweed (Poke Salet) the birds will love you for saving one plant for them. smile
Pokeweed (Phytolacca americana)

The berries aren't ripe yet but the birds are already checking it out for future reference. lol!
