Can anyone tell me what this shrub is? It has spikes on the leaves and gets grape like clusters. A friend of mine didn't want it anymore, but she couldn't remember the name of it. [Linked Image]

This is a Mahonia,not sure which variety you have there but they all have yellow flowers in the spring followed by blueish berries thumbup

What you have is Mahonia aquifolium (Oregon Grape). The name has been changed to Berberis aquifolium.
