Me again wink I'm posting a picture of the plants that weren't positively identified, now that they have grown or bloomed, as well as 2 more mysteries. Third time is a charm!
This vine now has little bud things on it. Hoping it might be a clematis? Wishful thinking grinnnn [Linked Image]
Could this one be pachysandra?
[Linked Image]
This might have been diathus. Here are the blooms.
[Linked Image]
Is this a weed or a ground cover?
[Linked Image]
Wider view of weed/ground cover

Thanks!

Here are the last 2 pictures
Anyone know what this is?

Last but not least, a branch like vine growing under the vinca. The vine is very thick and stiff. Has little white flowers

Thanks again!

Picture #2 looks like garden loosestrife.
The 1st picture in the 2nd post looks like Sweet Woodruff.

It looks like a lot of beautiful green growth. Congratulations on the new home. Sorry I can't identify anything for you; I'm in the same boat of having a new garden full of unknowns!

Yes, definitely sweet woodruff. Thanks! I'm not sure about the garden loosestrife. Some photos look similar and some don't resemble it at all. I'll wait to see if it flowers.

I just ran across a new plant that is poking out of the vinca. Anyone recognize this one? I'm not sure if it is a vine or not

Thanks for the compliments on the new greenery. I hope I can keep it looking that way!

can't help with much this time.

i don't think that's pachysandra - it's leaves are different.

weed or groundcover? weed.

the vine growing underneath the vinca looks like vinca. i sometimes see really tiny leaves on the new growth.

when the upper levels of the vinca flowered, what color where they? if white, then i'd say it's just some more vinca...

Hi Jocyln,

The vinca bloomed purple flowers. This new vine doesn't seem like the vinca at all in person, mainly because of the thick branch like vine. The flowers are also much smaller than the vinca blooms. I'm planning to beat back the vinca next weekend and will be able to get a better look.

Even though the "ground cover" is a weed I think I will keep it. It covers the shady areas very well and looks soft and inviting.

Thanks for the help!

The very first pictue looks more like honeysuckle than clematis. Clematis has much larger buds. Honeysuckle buds look like the buds on your vine.

Thanks Netty, it is Solomons Seal. I'll have to clear that area and see what else pops up.

Are there different kinds of honeysuckle? I compared the leaves from this vine to our wild honeysuckle growing in other areas and they do not look the same. I will definitely rip it out if that is what it turns out to be.

#1, not clematis, #2 NOT pachysandra, #3 definitely dianthus (cheddar pinks or maiden pinks), #4 probably weed but a nice green field of it, #5 sweet woodruff, #6 the vine in the vinca EUONYMUS euonymus (wintercreeper?), and the last one looks like solomon seal.

oh, geez! i didn't notice the flowers on the last one shocked

the first one is not a clematis. at least not any type that i've ever seen...usually they have little trailers that latch on to things so the vine is supported. it could be any number of vines - some desired and some not...please post a pic once it's got flowers on it...

Thanks Sir Ts, I had no idea there were so many kinds of honeysuckle! Some of them are really pretty. I'll post a picture when it blooms and I can see what kind I might have.

That's it RugbyHukr! I will probably transplant this to a more appropriate spot. It's amazing how many different plants there are here.

The second one in the first post is evening primrose. Spreads pretty easily. Has gorgeous yellow flowers on the top of the stems that open in the evening.

The third picture sure looks like Dianthus gratianopolitanus--Cheddar Pink.

I have a lot of these growing in the front part of my garden. The flowers are just starting to open and they always smell wonderful from even many feet away!

Hi Wrennie,

When does evening primrose bloom? I'll keep my eye out and post a picture when it does. Thanks!

Joanne
