Please excuse my ignorance...I know my posts are obviously common spring bulbs but I just don't know what they are.

They look like daylilies to me, and christina don't you ever think that asking questions is ignorant, it's the opposite, it's learning and we all need to do it every day! thumbup

I love yellow daylilies, I wonder what color you've got there???

They can bloom at different times, anytime from late June right through August here zone 4/5.

How long have you had them? They may be too crowded to bloom , but I doubt it. At least some of them would bloom. Duh

chris, there's nothing at all wrong with not knowing something and you'll never learn anything if you don't ask questions!!! the real shame in life is when people don't open their mouths to say 'help me...i don't know' i feel sorry for people like that - they end up losing out on SO much!!

i also agree with the lilly conjecture...now we just need to wait and see what kind of flower you have!

I just figured out why I didn't see them last year...I'm sitting here with my boyfriend and I said, "How could I have missed these bloom last year, I just don't get it!" He says, "Are those the ones that are along the back fence?" I said, "Yeah, you saw them last year??" He says, "Um...pretty sure they were...um..mowed down last year."

laugh laugh That is so so funny, Christina, I didn't want to broach a delicate subject, but my next question was "Do you think anyone (husband/boyfriend) could have weedwacked or mowed them down?" nutz lala

They don't care! Day-lillies are completely forgiving. You mowed (the deer ate, you left a pile of garbage on, ...) them last year, no problem, they'll bloom this year. They also spread and take over. They've got big, tuberous roots and if you pull them up and leave some of the tubers, they'll regrow. If after a few years they aren't blooming as well, dig some up and separate them; then you'll have 2 (3, 4, 7, 15, ...) large beds. They're wonderful as cut flowers, too, though pick stems with buds, as eack flower lasts only one day (hence the name).
