A Gardeners Forum Forums Gardening Reference Gardening in 2007 gold fish plant??

This is my daughter's plant - it looked good a year ago when she bought it.

Tonite we discussed cutting the thing back (whatever it is - myrtle maybe?)

But I hesitated - I thought what the heck - let's give it a chance - add some soil to the top, give it a few spritzes, hang it up and see how it does.

I don't know what it is though. Whatever it is, it looked a lot better after I dug in with my hands, lifted the root ball a bit, then fluffed up the stems with my hands.

The shiny leaves remind me of a goldfish plant. Has it ever flowered?

Come to think of it, I think it had little orange buds at one time.

I remember when my daughter bought this - we took her out for mother's day - ha ha! We bought dinner - she bought herself a plant - that was it.

I was there on Wednesday night - I told her to get it into a proper pot. That really didn't look good - not much drainage.

But I see she's cut the stems off and has them standing in some water - trying to root them, I guess.

And ya' know what? Goldfish plant ... that name sounds familiar.

I think I'll ask her if she remembers (she never does).

Guess I'll have to see if I can score some of those clippings once they take root.
