looks like what we used to call at home a "spanish bayonet" which is a variety of yucca. does it bloom? most of them do...

I've never seen this plant bloom-at least not that I can rembember.

i'm sorry i was so short with my last answer... let me ask you some questions, and then maybe i can answer yours better. first, are the "leaves" long, hard, poky, and sharp? second, does the lower (right next to the ground) leaves seem to die off very slowly? third, how long have you had it? there is one variety of yucca that is reputed to only bloom every hundred years. i am not sure how long the bloom time on it really is, but i know that it can take several years on some of them.

I thought it was one of those corn plants when I first looked at it.

I really think it is some kind of yucca. Here is a site that may help narrow it down.
