Someone gave me a bit of this plant (saying it's from the Salvia-family) and promised me seed when ready, but it's a bit of a puzzle to find the name. [Linked Image]

It doesn't look like a salvia to me...it looks more like a type of veronica spicata, except for the leaves. The bottom one looks similar to a liatris...do you have a photo in bloom?

Liatris is purple. But I don't think that's it as Liatris blooms from the top down and the plant in the photo appears to bloom from the bottom up(there's still some color on the top specimen).

Hi, I think you have Veronica Speedwell, I have it in my garden, and it has been blooming since June. The spikes are really dense, they are a purple colour. When l bought it the label said Salvia Blue. Hence the Salvia connection. My plants are still blooming, and are abundant.

Hi Jogger and Terry,
Been looking at photo's from Veronica, some types look like it but i'm still figuring out wich one! The mean top of this plant is different, a bit of a comb.
Thank you for your reply!

Definately not salvia......

I have red and blue black and they have long flowers.......Not chunky.

Reminds me of shorgum. A corn type of plant, used for drying in bouqets.
