Looks like basil to me...not sweet basil, but it sure does look like my Thai basil. I wouldn't pick it yet...wait 'til you know for sure.

But if it's a basil..surely if u rub da leaf a bit u'll get da unmistakably-distintive basil smell? Does it smell like basil? I've never come across pokeweed..but do its leaves have a smell?

if it smells strongly of any type of herb, then my guess is that it IS basil. if the smell is weak ,then, most likely it is not any herb. Even if you have to pick a small corner of a leave and smell it like that. Are the leaves glossy at all?

It does have a strong "herby" smell, but I don't have any dried Basil to compare it to. The leaves are smooth, but not really glossy. I'll try to get a better pic...

Yup, it's Basil. [Linked Image]
(Although I've never grown Oregano, so I don't know what it looks like.)

Yup, looks like basil to me too. The smell will be strong and unmistakeable (is that a word?lol) if it is basil.

I have a basil bush (HA.. long story) and yup, it's basil.

flowers/basil1.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/>

flowers/basil2.jpg" alt="[Linked Image]" class="post-image" style="height:auto!important;max-width:100%!important;"/>

Is this biggest Basil bush you've ever seen? HA.. My wife had this packet of seeds that wasn't marked. Not knowing what they were I stuck them in a pot and just did my thing... Even the neighbors come over and pluck the leaves and it just keeps on growing.. I think I'm getting sick of spagetti dishes :-P

Plenty of water (Not Soggy) and FULL sun. That's all I did. The next thing I know, BAM..

I'll be trimming the flowers off the tops soon. I hear that when they flower it takes away from the taste and aroma.. I'm not too sure this is true though.. My ENTIRE concrete patio smells like basil on a breezy day. Just smells fantastic.
