This is one of the office plants here at my work. I water it about once a week and it gets a little bit of sun. It is really overgrown the pot it is in and the roots are coming out of the top of the plant.
So I was thinking about taking it home to repot it and keep it. So I was wondering what type of plant it was and would it hurt it if it got too much sun or too little?

Its a Philodendron selloum. It will definately respond to repotting. Give it bright light, but not direct sun.

your plant is a Philodendron bipinnatifidum (old name of P. salloum). In my expierance a very hardy plant that will do ok in a wide range of situations. Good luck and happy gardening.

I have one of these plants,
it's as wide as my arm's can stretch
left and right...
and it's got to be over 26 years old...
I had alot of house plants when I was in highschool,
and it's been with me like for everrrrrrrrrrrrr..
I haven't repotted it a long time,
I over winter it in the basement now
as it's so huge I can't get it in the house.
***We have a small house shocked ***
But I have an extra big tub under and fill that with water,
and those extra water roots, hang down into there.

I also take mine out every summer,
and put it under a great big maple tree and it gets
dappled sunshine in the very late afternoon, and gets huger...

And it loves fish water!!!!!

Thanks everyone, I think I might take it to my boyfriend’s house. He has more room than I do since I live in a apartment. But this plant is in very desperate need of being repotted.
