I have a question for all you gardeners out there. I have a Fig tree that I have kept in a pot. It was given to me quite a while ago. I know I can put it in the ground, but my question is, will it bear fruit, or do I have to have another Fig? I have grape vines that don't need pollinators. Can you guys help? ters

Some common edible fig trees (Ficus carica) are self-fruitful. And, yes, they will bear fruit even in containers. I have 8 fig trees in 17" (pots)containers, and they always bear fruits, twice a year in late spring and another in fall. I have black mission, brown turkeyand kadota.

What variety do you have?

I have a fig tree that I don't do anything to all year and it has fruit each year...even during the drought.

I must be doing something wrong then. I use an all-purpose fertilizer on it. Maybe I have to "slap" it to get it to bloom. idea I do that to my trees sometimes in the spring to wake them up. Don't know if that helps, but I get to vent a little!!!! laugh
