This plant was here when we bought our house and I dont know what it is. I would like to have an ID for it so I can find out how to properly care for it. I also would like to find out how to propagate it, I want to plant it all along the fence but not sure how to go about doing it.

Here are several pics of it, I dont remember what the flowers turn out to look like but this is the start of its blooms.

Way COOL!!! I have always wanted a wisteria of some kind but didnt want to wait for the blooms for years...now I find out I have one right outside the kitchen window! Thanks!

Do you know how easy/hard they are to get cuttings to root?

Thanks
Victoria

Victoria ,
If there are suckers you can pull those to start.

it is easier to layer them which is to knick the wood and put it back in the dirt till it roots.

I have had one in a vase for two months no roots!

I just went out and looked and there are a few suckers so I will get those...I also noticed that there is some death on the plant as well. I assume it is best to clear all dead branches out? I definatly dont want this to die, do you have any good links with info on thier care and requirements?? I havent touched it since we moved in about 3 years ago!!!

Thanks
Victoria

Yes and fert after it flowers .. help it get strong growth..as far as I can tell the limbs that bloom this year are the ones that you need to prune back.. leave the others for next year...it blooms off 2 year growth, don't cut anything until you know it will not grow or leaf out ...

Will dried cow manure be enough for fertilizer? Epson salt like the stuff people soak their feet in? Is it flowering now or is that just the start of the flowers?

A few branches I tried to see if they were bendable and they just snapped and werent green at all, is that dead like it is on other plants or is wisteria a little trickier to tell if its dead?

..Sorry slow comp tonight on this site Vic..

Manure should be fine as long as it is a few years old .. yes like people soak in has magnesium which is good for flowering plants.

I had the 2 month old snips in the vase that looked dead and brittle and they are getting leaves just now .. strange I know wait till summer to prune off dead ones so yo know for sure !

Thanks
