Can anyone ID this Rhododendron for me? It is maybe a 3 year plant. I purchased it last year and this is the first bloom I've seen. It only had one bud that produced only 4 flowers. I'm not sure if this is the norm for this specie/hybrid or if it's because of age or some other factors. Any info or resource would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve and welcome,

I'm a beginner gardener so I know very little. I think there is something about pruning that may be a place to look for the problem. I believe roddies set their buds really early. It's just a thought. When did you prune yours?

Such a popular plant & so many cultivars. it would be so much easier to give you a link to browse until you find your match.

And They do set their buds in late fall, usually, for the next year. Most flower in their 3rd year after propogated from cuttings.
