I bought a bunch a plants several weeks ago at a nursey. Unfortunately, not all of them were labelled.

One is very attractive though.

It has many narrow, pointed, oblong leaves. So far there is one flat, white blossom, perhaps the size of a quarter.

But the unique thing about this bloom is that the edges of the petals are all feathery looking, like they were snipped with delicate pinking shears almost.

Anyone know what this might be?

Someone told me it was a "mini car" but it didn't look a thing like mini cars I have grown in the past.

My mini cars were bulbs and looked exactly like full grown carnations, only tiny.

This white flower is quite flat and so dainty! I love the feathery tips!

Gosh, I've got to get down there, hadn't I????

Every minute has been booked lately. My oldest daughter is getting married in August and I've still got two dresses to finish here!

My youngest , Matthew is turning 7 tomorrow and I'm having a birthday bash for him next Saturday, complete with an obstacle course and sprinkler fun.

I'm going to find a way to fit it in soon, I promise. And I'm always looking at the flowers at the nursery and thinking of you and which ones you'd like!

Merme, is it an annual or perennial Dianthus? I have some of the perennial ones and they smell just like carnations. They have a sweet, spicy fragrance, and I love them!

Carnations scientific name is dianthus caryophyllus.
Sweet William is Dianthus barbatus.
Pinks are dianthus alpinus.
Dianthus are dianthus chinensis.
Same genus, lots of different flowers.

Patti, most all the dianthus I see here in Z5 are sold as annuals, but they keep coming back. Are there some that are really annuals? Or is it a zone thing?
