Malica Member M Joined: Jul 2006 Southwestern Ontario	It looks like a white lilac to me. I don't know about privets, but a lilac bush is wonderfully fragrant and the scent can carry quite a ways with just a gentle breeze.

OP Kathleenjoy Junior Member Joined: Jul 2006 Michigan	Thank you for all the input!! It seems to resemble the privet, except that the leaves are not thick and shiny as they are shown in pictures we looked up. Could it be a hybrid?

RugbyHukr Member R Joined: Apr 2005 SoCal via WV	ligustrum lucidum is a tree privet & has less thick leaves. I am used to lilac having more of a heart-shaped leaf, not so oblong as what is shown. also, lilac flower petals do not curl back like that.
