I hope you guys can name this vine as I've just been calling it "the one with the hairy balls", which for some reason keeps getting me dirty looks. laugh The... round things are about 1.5-2" big.

(The little tiny leaves that almost look like grapes in the picture are from another plant that's started to grow through it that I haven't quite gotten around to straightening out just yet)

Thanks again!

I agree with Clematis. They are one of my favorite flowering vines.

Wow. I never would have guessed! I have some other type of clematis growing in the garden, but it has nice violet coloured flowers. Is this type going to bloom at all? Other than the oddity of it, I can't say as I enjoy the looks of it.

Definitely a clematis, and those "hairy balls" are what's left after flowering. That's where the seeds would be.

Thanks! My garden is so crowded that I thought it was something completely different. There was what I thought was morning glory growing in that area (but the very fact that I saw it blooming should have tripped me off that it wasn't because I'm not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination!), but I'm guessing it was clematis all along.

Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without this site. The flowers looked beautiful when were around, but I seriously thought these hairy balls had crowded out those flowers and I was debating on pulling it all out. I never would have put two and two together without you guys. Thank you all so much!

Oh, dear me... so much to learn... hopefully enough plants will survive my 'love'!
