Hi

My step-mother came across a flower in southern Spain this summer and would like help in identifying it. I've searched the Web for a relevant forum for this and am impressed with the friendliness, international membership, and useful content on The Gardener's Forum, so here's hoping someone might be able to help.

The flower was seen in July 2004 on sand dunes at Oliva, south-eastern Spain, about 50 miles south of Valencia.

Here's a pic: can anyone identify it? Thank you.

welcome to the garden helper. i'm glad you find us friendly, i think we are the friendliest bunch of folks on the web, bar none!

about the plant, well, i don't know what it is, but i am guessing it belongs to the lily family. it reminds me of a cross between daylilies and my spider lilies. i'll be interested to see if anyone can figure it out!

Thank you very much, Gardenmom. That does look like you've identified it. The fact that it has a maritime name adds to the likelihood that they are one and the same.

Thank you to all who helped, and to The Gardener's Forum!
