R. banksiae 'Lutea'
Syn R. 'Yellow Banksia'
A vigorous climber, the Yellow Banksia
rose smothers itself in soft yellow
flowers in
spring. Almost thornless it is great for planting near walkways, where many thorned climbing
roses are a hazard.
Named for Lady Banks, R. banksiae lutea was introduced to England from China in 1824. It was popular with the early colonists in New Zealand and is found in many old gardens
This is the hardiest of the banksia
roses but will thrive only in frost-free gardens. Prune only lightly as
flowers are carried on second and third-year wood.
