The 3/8" flowers start as cream with dark pink but gradually get a little darker.
The plant blooms for about 6 weeks beginning about the first of May.
It's definately not a Rhody...
It's a five foot deciduous shrub that I scored while landscaping at the Nordstroms, so I'm sure it's not a common plant.
That's about all I can tell you.....

You've never been in a Nordstrom Store? They have yuppie clothing etc. stores worldwide, so I thought that you'd at least heard of them. I can't afford to shop there either! NO WAY! shocked
The Nordstroms are part of Seattle's "$$$elite$$$" society...

That's probably why I never heard of them,

NO MALL STORES or such......I just went and looked at the site, not a chance!! That's not me!
I love sweat shirts and spandex~blue jean pants!!
My "evil~twin" as Nicholas said, may have when I was way, way, way younger, NOT NOW!

It has a plant department?
I looked on the site, no plants....individual stores differ?

Nope! That' a Strawberry tree (Arbutus uneda) The flowers are pretty close, but no pink and on the mystery plant the fruit are very small and develop within the flower and aren't seen! The foliage of the Arbutus is much stiffer and glossy...
Excellent try! grinnnn

The company I worked for did the landscaping for the Nordstroms and most of the rich and famous around here. I got to play in some VERY, VERY cool gardens. Wish I had my camera back then! You'd be drooling.....

When you figure this one out, I'll show you what I got from the Weyerhauser's garden! (have you heard of them???)

It's good to know that Weyerhauser's are only west coast 'royalty'... laugh

They own the land on three sides of me, and all but one of the mills around here...

On the bright side, they don't seem to mind 'sharing' their logging roads with me...I ride them all the time. <img border="0" alt="[clappy]" title="" src="graemlins/clappy.gif" />

Could it be 'Leucothoe Bontanesiana', I think the common name is 'Dog Hobble'?

I thought that you hit it with Leucothoe Bontanesiana, Tamara, but the leaves of my plant are configured differently and are not glossy. My flowers are open mouthed, but the Leucothoe's are more closed at the end and are usually plain white. Also, from what I read, most Leucothoes show fall foliage coloration, but mine leaves stay green til they fall off.

The Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) also has glossy foliage and the flower clusters of the Kalmia are more upright, whereas mine are hanging/drooping. My foliage would not be considered glossy at all....

I could be wrong....
