2. Hadn't considered honeysuckle. There are several "bushes" that are blooming already, maybe this one is just late
3. The bush is in partial shade so that explains why I don't remember red leaves last fall. A shame since the google pictures are just beautiful.
4. Being a hemlock
tree explains the white goo on it.
Hemlock web page "The human-imported nemesis of our wonderful hemlocks is the Asian hemlock wooly adelgids (Adelges tsugae). These tiny aphid-like insects, that cover themselves in a white, sticky goo that looks like marshmallow-fluff, were first seen on the west coast in the 1920���s."

trees might have to be cut down. I will have to find out who to contact to see what to do with them. I wanted to eventually chop them anyway since they are right next to the house.
6. I LOVE daylillies so I'm really glad to hear I have different varieties and bloom times.
