Here's a similar one that uses chocolate chips instead of cocoa:

No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup milk
2 cups sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
3-4 tablespoons peanut butter, optional
3 cups oatmeal
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Place chocolate chips, peanut butter (if used), oatmeal, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Combine the margarine, milk, and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 1 minute. Combine the hot mixture with the oatmeal mixture; stir well. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

This is the one I have always used:

Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies (No Bake!)

Ingredients:
1 stick (1/2 c.) butter 1/2 c. cocoa 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. milk 3 c. quick oats 1/2 c. peanut butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Combine butter, cocoa, sugar and milk in a large saucepan; stir and simmer until bubbles form around the edge of the saucepan, and mixture appears smoothly blended. Remove from heat. Add oats, peanut butter, and vanilla. Stir thoroughly. Drop by rounded Tablespoonful on waxed paper; cool. Store in a container in a cool place. Place container in refrigerator, if storing for a considerable time. It's a nice compromise between nutrition and Chocolate Cravings!

i mail them to my son's..
if you make them but eliminate the oatmeal, and beat it until it loses most of it's gloss after cooking- then spread it into buttered pan.. you make fudge just like the old fashioned hershey's cocoa fudge. it's not a creamy fudge- it's a great fudge- i make both often.. hugs thumbup wink

i still think it turns out the same as hershey's old fashioned fudge..
i know the recipe for these with and without oatmeal by heart..
i don't have a candy thermometor- i go by minutes ans texture..for length of cooking times.

I make these without the nuts. We have these every Christmas and Thanksgiving. Our family LOVEs these and they are soooooooo easy!

Sweet Minglers

Ingredients

1 package (6 oz., 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup peanuts (optional)
6 cups Kellogg's® Crispix® cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions

1. In large microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate at HIGH 1 minute. Stir and
heat 30 seconds longer at HIGH or until melted when stirred. Stir in peanut
butter and peanuts. Gently stir in KELLOGG'S CRISPIX cereal, until evenly
coated.

2. Place powdered sugar in 2-gallon zipper-type plastic bag. Add coated cereal to
sugar and close bag. Gently toss cereal mixture until evenly coated. Store in airtight
container in refrigerator. Yield: 16 servings

Microwave cooking times may vary.

Note

CONVENTIONAL DIRECTIONS:

Melt chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly until melted. Remove from heat.
Stir in peanut butter and peanuts. Pour mixture over cereal in large mixing bowl.
Gently stir until evenly coated. Follow step 2 above.
