Hello decided instead of flowers I would rather have a hardy foliage that is either purple or maroon in color instead and this is for a flower bed so do not want it to get to big to fast?Thank you all

An evergreen(ever-red), shade tolerant, slow-growing, purple/maroon foliage shrub?! Now you're asking for miracles! laugh laugh idea

it doesn't have to be a shrub how about a plant of some kind you know like you could put into a container with others? The area gets shade but it also get a little sun too in the afternoon?Does that help any?

Ajuga groundcover would help fill up a pot. It flowers, too. Purple spikes. Beautiful...

Both can take shade, and both can go into
containers nicely...

Caladium and Coleus are both tropical so you would have to bring them in once the night time temperatures reached 55 degrees F. And the Caladium also goes dormant for about 4 months a year. But the colors are right on.
