A Gardeners Forum Forums Gardening Reference Gardening in 2006 zuke/squash flowering problems!!

hey guys, i have my zuchini & squash plants and they have fruit set on them and the blossoms finally opened up. Pollination time right? Well i dont have any male flowers to pollinate them with. . none that are open anyways. should i take one of the males and tear the leaves off it (remember its not even colored NOR is it open yet.) and pollinate the fruit/females?

oh man weez. . . about 6 weeks ago? Middle of may and here it is july 1st. so yah!

i think i'm kissing these first fruits goodbye its only 2 fruit per plant right now. . i have so many males that are growing on each plant and none of them are even yellow yet! All green and really hard still

Be patient, they will come. Mine did that 2 weeks ago and NOW I`m getting MORE then I can handle. I`m pulling at least 2 a day off my zuke plant (1). It`s still growing. BTW.... Mine was a Volenteer plant and it`s about 4+ feet tall and takes over 8 feet in diameter. I should take and post a pick.

I can NOT believe how FAST these things grow!! No one told me to watch out for that! I left to go on a trip on Friday, with orders to my family to 'water the dirt' and when I came home today I was amazed!! I have zuccs, squash, and baby watermelon!! But what amazed me was the zucc. I left with flowers and came home to 3 that are 10 inches long or more, and about 4 baby ones!! I suppose I will be picking them soon. Here's PICTURES for those of you who like to "see" things !
