I dug up a petunia from a pot outside and discovered MANY grubs in the pot! I was totally grossed out. No wonder my petunias looked sad. When I planted them I used bagged potting soil, so does that mean the grubs came in the soil or did the beetles lay eggs in the pots? I had just bought 2 bags of milky spore so I sprinkled some in the pots and repotted the petunias. I think I will dig them back up and see if the grubs died. Just sort of an experiment. I never thought of grubs getting into pots.

If you have grubs in your pot more than likely your yard is infested with them.

Interestingly enough, I have treated the entire yard with milky spore except a mound that is a planting area in the middle of our driveway. It is an island in the driveway. That is where the pots were sitting on posts. The reason I unpotted the petunia in the first place was because my husband screwed the pots to the post and I wanted to be able to move them so I could water and feed them without dragging a hose out there. I am going to treat that island with milky spore too.
