I have a vegetable garden every year but this year we moved into a new house. So i planted it like usual and i come out today and the bunnies that live in the woods near my house at my parsley (italian and curly) my lettuce (roman and head) so of the peppers and a little of the basil. What safe ways can i stop them. I was thinking of surrounding it in chicken wire (buring it in the ground so they dont dig also.) any help would be much appreciated!

Fox Urine *Preditor's Urea* you can get it in the gunshow places....

Try some tabasco sauce on the plants too..

A light Row Cover could be used, it lets' light in and air.. you do need to open it up for pollenation....

PLEASE DO NOT LIVE TRAP !!!!!!!!!
Rabbits will have heart failure in a trap no matter how humane.
Fencing is the way to go. Please.

I was going to say also, I got some
really nice sturdy "Rabbit Fencing"
at my local Tractor Supply Co....
A 50ft roll for $17.00 something..
**I love it, I've done projects with it instead of keeping rabbits out, cause I have raised beds, but the fencing is nice*
and user friendly to work with...

Oh no! I recently heard that the animals that provide the "product" so to speak, arent treated 100% humane! Just one source, but I could see that :p

I got the rabbit fencing mentioned above. If it works for me, it'll work for you, TRUST ME! thumbup

'Sparagus, that sounds like it would be true, that the "source" animals aren't treated well.
I really like all of you trying so hard not to harm animals.
Just one more reason to love this great forum !

Hello

I also use chicken wire to keep the little bunnies and ducks from my garden, as i have a creek 6ft from my gardens edge, and there are many critters. I also plant a small little garden behind mine for the bunnies, Please no live trap!

In another thread, I mentioned my new eggplant.
The other day I was checking my container tomato, where the eggplant's in a pot next to it, and there, wearing a "What's the problem?" expression, was one of the wild rabbits just chewing up the last shreds of the eggplant.
I said, "What's going on here?"
Then cracked up at the cute puzzled face and said, "Well, I can spare a friend some salad".
Really shows ya where I stand about my wild rabbities, doesn't it.... luv
