I have an overgrown corn palm.
The stalks have grown tall and fallen.
What I need to know is can I cut a stalk and either replant or re-root it? I've been told that I can cut the stalks down and possibly new grown will come. Is there something I should do or be aware of before I do so?
Thanks in advance.
B

Hello,
Sorry, I don't have this plant, so I can't help you there, but hopefully someone can. Are you possibly referring to a Dracaena fragrans plant?

Good catch, DowntoEarth !
I was just wondering what a corn palm is and then there's your post.
I bet it IS a dracaena.

Yes it is more officially known as a Dracaena fragrans. You really know your plants!
Well we decided to cut one of the stalks down to about a foot high. We'll see what happens and then take it from there. Hopefully it sprouts up and we can begin a new chapter with this plant.

it should. and you can plant the green part of what you cut off and it should grow also.
