Barb, the blooms will be orange with red dots on the petals. When the
seed pods crack open, the
seed clusters will be black and that's where the name is derived from. They look like blackberries.
Lots of confusion with this beautiful
plant. Although it is called a
lily, it is really in the Iris family and grows on from Rhizomes, not bulbs.
They will usually bloom the first year if
seeds are sown early enough. After you have mature
plants, you'll be able to divide them for more.
They are hardy to z5 so you may not have to dig them to overwinter. Another plus for the sweet little things.
