I had a Serviceberry tree planted two years ago. How do I stop the root growth without killing the tree? I have other young tree doing the same thing, sprouting from the roots.

They're suckers and you really can't stop them. One of mine does it and the other does not.

all you can do is cut back the suckers, the roots are going to go where they want one way or another, IF you try to stop them they'll find ways around your barriers
