will the ashes from my smoker hurt my plants or will it help potash levels?

will not hurt, and dosnt really raise potash- Potash is a mineral, not to be confused with ashes. Ive heard ashes are benefictial to soils.

It is a source of potassium.
Use it sparingly, it is highly alkaline. If you use charcoal briquets in your smoker, or lighter fluid, there could be petroleum residues in the ash that aren't so good.

As you said your soil was a bit acid in another thread, the alkalinity will be a bonus. As pepper said, use sparingly. Just a fine covering over the area. Use the grey ash dust not the big lumps.
