I have been checking around the yard to find out what is getting ready for spring (besides me) and I found this sprouting out in the little puddle. Cindy, you sent it to me, so can you tell me once again what it is? laugh I am talking about the little yellow/green stuff in that mass of brown.

Do I need to take the stuff that looks dead out? Duh

I am, also, pleased to report that my two surviving goldfish are still surviving... thumbup

You know that I will share, Cindy. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have any pond plants to shade my puddle. If the rest survived, I will be sure to send some of those back, too...

Crossing my fingers, eyes, toes, legs, arms, etc. that some of each make it...

Parrots feather dies down in our zone for the winter and looks like dead ropes eek but when spring really gets here it will grow back out. By summer it will be back good as new. thumbup

Donna, thank you for sharing with Cindy because she shared with me, too...

I hope all that brown mess (dead rope) turns green. I was so excited to see it...

I took everyone's advice and kept my fish to a minimum. I started out with three, but one died... ters What's the chance of me having a male and a female? When would they spawn? My puddle is 85 gallons. Should I buy more?

I think I would give the two goldies you have a chance to spawn before adding more to the pond. If they haven't spawned by the end of May, beginning of June, then you could buy another one or two, but I'd stop at that...because without a doubt there would be at least one girl in the mix by then. wink

I agree with Giraffe. The chances are high there will be a female. laugh laugh

I am just glad I could share my plants with Cindy and it has helped others. I got my first pond plants the same way. As Cindy said what goes around comes around. I am glad I have helped. grinnnn grinnnn

I guarantee you that if I bought 2 goldfish one would be a female. And I guarantee you that if I only bought ONE goldfish it would be a pregnant female. laugh If my goldfish end up with the same amount of babies per fish as they did last year, I should have 1,120 babies this year! kissies

Count me in that number, Gardencrazy.
Cindy generously sent me some feathers for my small bathtub pond - they did pretty well after the hyacinths failed, but alas the tub is totally frozen so I'm sure they won't survive the winter here.

But I gotta love Cindy for sharing! kissies

Hello Miss cindy. Do you think I could get a little of that 'feather' from you. It's one I haven't tried yet. Maybe the raccoons won't eat it.
