Well, actually Mom54 you are a couple of hundred miles southeast of me, so I still probably have a couple of weeks before they arrive in Nashville, TN. Migration generally moves at a leisurely pace. spring Migration starts around the 1st of March here and ends about the 1st of June.

Okay, how about me? I'm in Illinois right across the river from St. Louis. Of course, they are predicting sleet and snow for us today. This is spring? patches

First or Second week of April for you, Patches. I am a member of TnBird the birding community of Tennessee and we are eagerly watching the progress of the hummers now. Mom 54 has the most Northerly report I have heard so far. She is in the southern tip of South Carolina. Two weeks ago The Hummers were being reported in Jacksonville, FL and a week or two before that in Texas. The West Coast is different from us they have many DIFFERENT species than we in the East have, including some that are year round residents in some areas, there. All we normally have in the East are the Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds, which are NOT on the West Coast.

Years ago, a friend of mine told me to put out my feeders on Mar. 14th. Nothing deters those birds!!! The weather has been cold, wet, even a little sleety, but they come within a week of that date. That always fascinated me. Doesn't take much to amuse me, I guess.

Thanks Thornius! Now that I know when they are coming I can get ready for them. I've always put my hummer feeders out later, when it got a little warmer. Perhaps if I put out a welcome banquet for them when they arrive, I will get more and they'll stay around. I've probably missed attracting a lot of them when they first came to town. patches

There used to be a link to a hummingbird migration map. Maybe one of the hostesses remember it.
