I am planning on moving in January back to the states and will have to get rid of all of my plants. I just had the thought that January is probably not the best of times to move plants to someone else's home, due to the cold temperatures outside while in transit. What do you all think? Should I move them to their new homes before the first frost or will it be ok to keep them here until December?

if you wrap them well before you transport them, they should be ok. just don't leave them in a car to get frostbit.
