This past weekend was the second area garden tour, and even better than the first! I've posted (lots of) pictures at: http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=552079600 Note the section that starts a series of hostas; the first picture name is "Hosta heaven." This house had over two hundred different named varieties of hostas, including an unbelievable collection of minis. Makes me wince when I get home and see my own sad mess!! Someday!

I went on a garden tour two years ago. It was the most beautiful, fun, depressing day ever! Everyone was nice. The guys at one house not only served little brownies YUM, but had a list of all their plants, scientific and common names, so if you saw one you asked about they'd highlight it on their sheet, that you took with you so you ould get the same plant. But then I came home and said **sigh** I have a lot of work to do.

I SO love that waterfall, and my husband doesn't know it yet but that's next spring's project. Here's a close up of the top, to give you an idea of the construction. Here's their beautiful sculpture and notice the plants that have all around the edges. Here's looking down from the top of the waterfall to the pond at the base.

One of our local garden stores carries a similar one. It's made specifically for holding pots like that. There are horizontal rings welded and/or screwed on to the frame so you can drop down pots into the rings. I've seen them at garden shows, too.

I hear ya! I've been the container queen this year, though. We're moving to a new house, and I don't want to leave all my perennials, particularly my hostas, so I've got TONS of containers this year. I've left everything in a spot that gets mostly shade because of the "drying out" issue. Knock on wood, they are looking great. Once we have time to get the gardens planned, I'll put them in the ground.
