Any body got any???

Mine, Don't eat all the candybars from
Halloween in the same week.
And only occasionally take a pc out of your
kids bags, as they'll notice if you take
5 or 6 pcs at a time.... laugh shocked

Hub offers to chain me to the front of his truck (the really big one), where I can't run off to either side, and drive down the street while I run. I don't mention exercise around him anymore! grinnnn

I never ever diet, I don't believe in the punishment of it....I love food too much...I think the only way to really lose weight in a safe way is to cut back on some of the fat we eat, and exercise....you can't do one without the other!!! The problem that we have in the US are the sizes of the food portions we get....usually it is way too much....eat what you love just not as much of it!!!! Plus many people want a quick fix, with a pill, or some fad diet....then they usually end up gaining more weight back....My friend just quit doing the low carb diet....she hated not being able to eat pasta and bread, and I know I couldn't ever do that!!! My BD present in april is going to be a treadmill, and I can't wait to get that and do my daily walking!!

I heard that if you chew a little piece of fresh fennel, it can stave the appetite. I used to do this with my bronze fennel. I think the flavor is so strong, it makes you feel almost as if you've eaten something more substantial.

Been reading up on benefits of vitamin D (my housemate, JG, manages an alternative medicine Dr's office in Beverly Hills, so I get lotsa info); it seems it can now be classified as a hormone AND diet aid. Also, Omega3 fatty acid can curb the "phantom cravings" we have. Also, if you have a food intolorance (and, it's usually the things we love most :rolleyes: ), like to gluten or wheat, it can mess up the way you process nutrients, so it gets stored as fat.
Gonna get some Vitamin D grinnnn

I have a kid that's allergic to milk, and pork, and cats and dogs, and peanuts, and............
And I'd like alot of info on the things you can and can not take...
And antioxidents, I'm into alot of tomatoes....
But I think that info would be some good reading here!!!

Nutrition, dietary intolerances, allergies, etc....if I don't know the answer, I have good sources. The omega3 (fish oil) thing is really big, & I've been preaching to my daughters about it. There are studies that indicate that our modern diet is so lacking in vital components that our health, as a whole, is going down hill and is affecting each subsequent generation (note the prevelance of "ADHD" these days).
Anyhoo, lack of Omega3 can mimic ADD in some kids. My granddaughter is a good example; lack of concentration, no focus, classwork was a nightmare. Grandma to the rescue, armed with her fish oil! The little one has turned around; the "rapid slide show" in her head has settled down and her concentration has vastly improved. A happy side effect is that she lost some extra weight, too. I've become a big proponent of complimentary and preventative medicine. I see the marvel of it every day. grinnnn

This site is so much like sitting in the parlor over a pot of tea that I forgot that I run the risk of exposing my basic ignorance to the world, especially to any medical folks. My apologies to them, one and all. What I'll do is give you personal experience in regard to what paying attention to your nutrition can do. I have a son that is allergic to alot of
stuff. Milk, peanuts, pork, animals (cats~n~dogs)
I've gone the bout with the doc's and specialists.
At three he was tested, and they said, to keep introducing the milk a little bit to his system, if it would tolerate it, and he's done reasonably well with it, eating a small amount of items.
But still has a nasal reactions (mucus).........
And has since developed a very mild case of asthma now, and they say it's because of the milk and to stop feeding him it, as they were wrong to say the first thing before about taking bits of milk to get his body used to it.....
I now have an appointment to see his regular doc. and I wanna talk to him about it...
And he's a smart boy, unbelievably smart actually, but can't keep his *ss in a chair to save his life....He eats wonderfully, can't complain at all for him, although he's a walking stick!! But eats really good.
I know they have the omega fatty 3 in fish, we love salmon patties, and I used to take codliver oil as a kid, OH YUCKIE POO~POO, I HATED THAT STUFF!!!!!! But, I thought there was a tablet form you could take now.....
And my father in law is trying to convince me for something called serotonin in the brain, they think it has behavioral factors in it..
And, Papito posted something on the health of vegetable plants and then found the same thing for humans, "Molybdenum" and he has alot to do with some things, so, I've been reading alot, not understanding half of it, but, eventually I'm hoping to!!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

There are trusted experts who say that milk is only good for babies, and cow's milk is only good for baby cows. The milk industry says we all need it, and it's good for you, but the fat in it is not our friend nor is the calcium benefiting our bones. Our bodies really aren't able to process that kind of calcium into what our bones need to be strong (psst...above-water coral calcium, that's the ticket!).
Milk and other food allergies can play havoc with what's going on in your colon, too, the last stop for using the nutrients in the food you eat.
Regarding Omega3 capsules; they come in lemon flavor, now, so if they repeat on you, you don't smell like the wharf. Also, ProDHA (what my granddaughter takes, true brain-remedy) now comes in strawberry flavor.....Same repeat factor. I take DHA myself, and my joints are not as stiff. Now, if I can just give up bread (Lordy, I love a big 'ole BLTA for lunch), they'll stop hurting all together.

My father~in~law has a DHA cream for
his joints, same thing/ or same results???
I should say, I know the cream isn't edible,
but he spreads it on his knees and he's
trying to get me to get that too.

My brother has said the same thing about the milk
(he's a RN) And I give my son SILK MILK (soy)

I will have to take a peak for those tablets.
We like the salmon, but hubby don't so we usually have it on a night he's coming home late.

Okay, what's with the bread????
I am a carbohydrate fool!!
(I'm almost a total vegetarian and so I eat
alot of carb stuff instead of meat)
Bread effects your joints????

Hi, Weez,

If you're wheat intolerant, like most members of my family are, it can begin affecting all sorts of body parts. You can pay attention to what your body does after eating certain foods; like, after I have a sammich, I want to go take a nap. After a day filled with eating breads, etc.....I have dark circles under my eyes next morn. Sugar is another bad boy for alot of us. THAT offender can really mess up the previously-mentioned colon-thing.

Usually the best diet I go on and can loose weight is walk 3 miles a day and just cut down on my eating... laugh
That doesn't start until after Jan 1st... wavey

It's more about health and nutrition than dieting. For me, dieting is about agony, deprivation and discouragement. frown

Didn't know where else to post this, but it has to do with health..

It's flu season...

If (hoping not; knock on wood) anyone comes down with something yucky this season and you must take antibiotics...also take a good vitamin b6 with them. B6 will help the meds do a more efficient job and your recovery will be faster....(wisdom from my Dr.-boss)
