Do they transplant well?? My MIL has a bunch of them growing on her sand mound and I was thinking about digging some up and bringing them down. What do you all think about that?

I've never transplanted any. They bloom every other year so I don't know what would happen to a transplanted one. It would probably drop it's seeds in your spot and you'd have plants in a year or 2. After they're established you have some blooming every year but not the same ones. It's worth a try or just gather some of her seeds and throw them out. They're so beautiful.

If you can get the smaller ones...
They transplant alotttttttt easier than the big ole ones do...
the tap root isn't so far down yet...
and if you have very loose soil,
and get the tap root on the older one's..
then yes, but if you have to snap the root, good luck.. .

As a rule of thumb when transplanting,
especially something that could go into shock easily... I water with some Schlutz Plus 10~60~10 the day before, give 'em a good shot and on their leaves to foliar feed...
then have the hole ready to just plant the plant,
and water it in with alot more of that liquid fertilizer... again a good foliar feed...amd do this maybe 2 or 3 days in a row..
They have no way to feed themselves until they
re~establish their root systems...

I have done them, just do it early enough,
(Not when it's cold out though... but early
enough in the plants life...)
and you should have a good chance at it..

But they do go into shock very easy....

If you can, don't do it on a day the sun is beating down on it either or high noon like,
if so, shade that area...
