I have a young oak tree that my husband over fertilized at the end of last summer. It lost all of it's leafs. I thought they would return this spring. The tree looks dead, but when I scratch the tree I can still see green. I have continued to water it so far this year, but no new growth has occurred. The outer branches look very dryed up, but the trunk still looks good. Is there any hope for this young tree?

thank you

Hello, jennyz. I am not much into tree pests and diseases but obviously, the tree is in stress. I am concerned about the fact that the tree did not leaf out in spring so I suggest that you contact an arborist, your local Extension Service or University (TAMU is very good). Start checking their FAQs and their EMAIL Link at http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/plantanswers/web.html
