It's fine. You just need to turn it more often. As the pile dries out the mushrooms will go away. They like it moist.

What all have you put in the compost,
just outta curiousity?????

I haven't ever had them growing in mine,
but I do get them growing in my front and
side lawn were trees have been taken down,
mulched, decomposing under the ground...

Basically as far as I know, it's just the
wood product decomposing...

All my kitchen scraps (fruits, veggies, eggshells, coffee grinds, etc) Contents from the guinea pig cage when I clean it (wood shavings, shredded paper and her droppings) cut up twigs, flowers that I've deadheaded, dryer lint, vacuum contents (which is 99% dog hair), stale beer, dry leaves, soil, etc, etc, etc.
It could be that I don't turn it enough. It's getting difficult for me because there's so much in there. I'm not all that strong. shocked

That's a good possibility...

It does need a bit of aeration...
and when it doesn't... things like the
woodchips will create mushrooms...or the like...

Mushrooms are a fungus. Fungus are right at home in a compost bin. They are normally a sign of present organic matter and that's a good thing!
