We planted pansies last fall. This spring we tucked some petunias, coleus and vinca amongst them thinking the pansies would soon fade and the petunias, vinca and coleus would take their place. Well, the pansies have thrived and only now are fading in the heat. The annuals are still tiny, competing for space and light.
My question is, do we cut the pansies back, transplant them or pull them out?

If you want to keep the pansies, cut them back quite a a bit...this will give them a better chance of surviving the summer heat. However, since pansies aren't expensive you might want to just pull them and replant this fall.
