I have some of my house plants in terracotta pots. They've been in them for a few years now and the pots have aged gracefully with waterings. However, the saucers that I bought to put under them still look as new as the day I bought them. Now the pots and saucers look odd together. I've soaked the saucers in water for a few hours and they look darker, but still nothing like the pots. Anyone know of any tricks I can use to age them?
Thanks,
Gail

i've heard rubbing them with buttermilk, or yogurt/water mixed will age them. don't know, and i'd make sure they dry well so as not to smell or attract bugs...

gardeningmama wavey another way is to mix 1 cup of lime powder(from the garden area of stores) with 2 cups of water untill you get a thick gravy like consistancy and paint on with a bristle brush all over thick in some area and sparingly in others .. when it is completely cover use a spray bottle that has both stream setting and mist setting,, use the stream setting and spray in spots so that it runs off let dry slightly and use a med grit sandpaper and rub in random directions untill you get the look you want.. works preetty good..

Do you want to make them darker again,
the same color *rust*
or put some moss or algae on it??

The buttermilk grows moss on the side of the
clay pots....

The pots have a white hue to them from the plant being watered. i assume it's mineral/calcium build from the water. It would be neat to have the saucers fit better with them. So if I ask for lime powder at the store, they'll know what I'm looking for???
Thanks grinnnn
