When is the best time to plant Serrano peppers? What do yall use to keep them hot and green? zone8b.

Mine are already up, but then I'm feeding with a liquid low nitrogen, high phosphorus, high potassium fertilizer (Omega 1-5-5). I'll pot my serranos and other peppers up into 4 inch pots before they're ready to go out in the garden. I've never had a problem with peppers not being hot enough. Maybe a little milder in cool rainy summers, but even the last 2 years with all the rain we had (64 and 57 inches) my caribbean jerk sauce with habaneros still made me cry. ters

Try planting them near the south side of your house, that should make them nice and hot.

I don't even use them green, I always harvest them after they turn red. I think they have more flavor then.
