OP pcgrav Member Joined: Feb 2005 Cotton Land in the Magnolia St...	HELP! Its me again... I have a pruning question. At what time of year can you cut back a Crepe Myrtle tree. tree being the operative term here. There are two very tall ones(about 20 or 30 feet, maybe a little more) in my front yard and I would like to cut them back so that they will become fuller at the bottom. Is this possible and when should this be done? I live in zone 7. I would really welcome any advice. Thanks a Bunch!!!

obywan59 Member O Joined: Apr 2004 Copper Hill, Virginia	You could be pruning your crepe myrtles any time now. Cut them back to near ground level rather than leaving stubs. Be prepared for zillions of suckers though. Thin those out severely leaving roughly 5 or 7 main stems. Most people prune crepe myrtles as they grow to remove lower limbs over time to accent the attractive, smooth, and sometimes cinnamon colored or peeling bark
